Adjourning
Initially only four stages were present in Tuckman’s model. Later he added another stage titled as Adjourning. This helps to view the entire stages of team development from a neutral perspective rather than from a team member’s point of view.
This stage is applicable when the team is dismantled. At this stage, someone who is responsible for the team must pay attention to certain issues such as team bonding and individual accomplishments. Strong bonding can be created in the process of achieving the task, so care must be taken when the group is dismantled. Efforts must be recognised, monetary or non-monetary praise must be given to those who deserve it. Those in need of security might be anxious about what happens next and must be reassured accordingly.
