John Adair developed an elegant model on “Action-centred” management and identified three core management responsibilities:

• Achieving the task
• Managing the individual
• Managing the team

Focusing on one aspect at the expense of another, will risk neglecting certain important areas. In other words, if these areas are not satisfied, the team will suffer and will work below its optimum level.
