Power of self talk
One of the most effective and least used methods to self motivate is positive self-talk. Effectively you try to short circuit your own brain by continuously praising yourself by telling how good you are, how much you are going to achieve, which direction you are going to go and how wonderful is your life.
You saw earlier about the magical power of Law of Attraction. You can combine that with positive reminders and deliver a statement to yourself everyday to condition yourself on your highly skilled abilities.
“Every day and in every way, I am getting better and better”
Always use a positive language. For example, it is always better to say “I am energetic”, than to say, “I am not lazy”. If you say it negatively, your brain needs to process the words first which in this example is “lazy”, before it can process the “not” part of the sentence. Since the brain needs to imagine “lazy” first, you risk biasing it negatively before you have a chance to correct it. Instead use a positive language to get best results.
Exercise:
Write down five positive self-talks that you can use to energise yourself and get motivated in life. Examples:
- I am becoming more intelligent everyday
- I am really happy and i am getting happier every day
- I am proud of my body. It serves me well.
- I am becoming more emotionally skilled every day.
