If you have used Styles and you switch the Navigation Pane on, it will give you a ‘map’ of your document using your Heading Styles.  The benefits of using the Navigation Pane are:

• It allows you to click on a heading and go directly to that part of the document. No more scrolling up and down or searching for the text
• Rearrange sections of your document by dragging and dropping Headings in the Navigation Pane
