On the later versions of PowerPoint you can get ideas for the design of your slide.  At the end of the Design Ribbon is an option to select Design Ideas.  This will bring up a library of different designs for your slide that you can select from.  This comes in very handy when you are in a hurry and you want a good-looking slide.
