Be bigger than your role, and never expect that just doing the minimum will earn you a promotion. Like asking for a salary increase, to be eligible for a promotion you will need to show that you are capable of taking on greater responsibility, that you are not afraid of hard work and challenge, and that you are engaged with the wider organisation.
