Know what to expect

In most performance reviews, managers offer their assessment of an employee’s performance and then outline future expectations, often setting a timeline in which goals should be achieved.

Do not be afraid to ask your manager for their performance review tips, and what to expect from the process. Are there documents they want filled out? Perhaps they want you to present feedback in a certain way? The review process should not be one of secrecy, and you are entitled to know what will be asked of you and the metrics or benchmarks against which you will be assessed.
