Focus Assist

Focus Assist allows you to create distraction free work times by blocking alerts, notifications and other sounds. Turn on Focus Assist whenever you want to get things done without distractions from social media or other, similar notifications. Alternatively set it to tun on automatically at certain times during the day when you need to focus.

Snap Assist

Snap Assist enables you to ‘snap’ windows to the sides of the screen. With displays getting bigger, the logic is that we can have more windows on our screens. Being able to split the screen into different sections for different windows is useful and Snap Assist is designed to help.

Start Menu Apps and Software List

Open the Start menu by clicking the Windows icon in the bottom left of the desktop or by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard. A list of your apps appears on the left and the Live Tiles on the right.

Start Menu Live Tiles

Open the Start menu by clicking the Windows icon in the bottom left of the desktop or by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard. A list of your apps appears on the left and the Live Tiles on the right.

Task View

Task View is located next to the Windows 10 Search Box, identified as a filmstrip type icon. It incorporates both the Task View and Timeline features.

The Action Center

Open the Action Center by clicking the speech bubble icon on the far right of the taskbar or by pressing the Windows Key + A on your keyboard. If you hover the mouse pointer over the Action Center button, it will tell you if you have any new notifications.

The Task Bar

The Windows 10 task bar runs the full length of the screen and contains several separate areas as shown below. You can customize almost all these areas on the taskbar.

Using Virtual Desktops

One of the great features in Task View is the ability to add extra desktops. Virtual desktops are essentially extra workspaces e.g. you can have one space with your email and chat windows open and another where you are working on a PowerPoint presentation without email distraction.

Windows Search Feature

If you need to search for anything on your Windows 10 PC, the taskbar search bar is the place to do it. You can still hit the Start button (or Start key on your keyboard) and start typing if you used to do that to search in previous versions of Windows.
